AMARKANTAK - A PILGRIM TOWN
Amarkantak is a pilgrim town in the district of Anuppur that comes under state of Madhya Pradesh, India. This place is the origin of holy river Narmada. It’s is the meeting point of the Vindhya and the Satpura Ranges with the Maikal hills being the fulcrum. Not only river Narmada but also some and Johila rivers emerge here. It is situated at an altitude of 1000 m. It’s a very famous and frequently visited Hindu pilgrimage town and is also known as "Teerthraj".There is a place in Amarkantak known as "Kabirchabutra" is said to be the place where famous sant and poet Kabir had Meditated.This place is full of forests where you can find rich variety of medicinal plants.
Kapildhara Fall: It’s the point from where the river Narmada falls down a 24m deep.

By Rail: Pendra road railway station is the nearest railway station located at about 40 km from amarkantak. Pendra railway station is between Bhopal and Durg station.
By Bus : Amarkantak is very well connected by frequent bus,taxi services from town Jabalpur,Shahdol,Rewa,Bilaspur,Anuppur and Pendra Road.
